WATSONVILLE—A man with a history of burglarizing businesses by entering through their rooftops was arrested again on Aug. 25, when he allegedly broke into Cabrillo College’s Watsonville campus, Watsonville Police spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said.

Fermin Sanchez, 33, faces new burglary and trespassing charges. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, jail records showed.

Dubbed by police as the “Rooftop Burglar,” Sanchez was nabbed after Watsonville Police K9 Axel found him hiding on the second floor of the college. Police released video surveillance that reportedly shows Sanchez climbing the building. Officers responded to a burglar alarm after he broke in.

Before his arrest, Pulido said, detectives had been looking for Sanchez in connection with another rooftop burglary at Salud Para La Gente that occurred earlier in the month.

Sanchez was arrested in February of last year for allegedly committing at least five rooftop burglaries during the course of a month. This included the GNC vitamin store, La Buena Taquería, Wingstop and the Tutoring Club of Watsonville.
