Nay, 32, has been in custody since March 23.

He was at Dominican for a medical evaluation, and was being transferred within the facility when he pulled away from restraints and tried to kick a deputy in the head, Baldwin said.

The deputy, along with a Dominican Hospital security officer tried to restrain Nay, but he fought back and bit the security officer.

Nay told the deputy that he was leaving the hospital as he struggled to get away. They called for help, and regained control of Nay before he escaped.

Nay was arrested for attempted escape in addition to battery. He was previously in custody for trespassing, driving on a suspended license and vandalism.

He was returned to the jail where his bail is set at $25,000.
