WATSONVILLE — Shirley Christmore Stroh died peacefully on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at her home with her best friend/soul mate and husband Jerry Stroh by her side. She was one month shy of 80.
She was born on a farm in Edna, Kan. on Aug. 4, 1937 to Don and Virginia Christmore. She was the oldest of four children born during the Depression. As a consequence, she knew the value of hard work and the importance of family. She could always be counted on in the times of trouble for unconditional acceptance and good advice. She loved to crochet and when she heard of new babies they always received a beautiful hand crocheted blanket from Shirley.
She and Jerry loved to travel in their motor home, seeking out new places and returning to old favorite spots. Mrs. Stroh was a woman of simple tastes and pleasures.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Stroh of 50 years; her children, Gene Harding, Valerie Hunter and Ron Stroh; her siblings, Carl Christmore and Carol Cole; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Rod Harding; and her sister, Judy Souza.
