Watsonville erased a 2-0, first-half deficit, but Bellarmine stunned the host Wildcatz with a score in the 79th minute to walk off Emmett M. Geiser Field with a bragging rights over its longtime rival.

At Aptos, freshmen Jazmin Castaneda and Rowan Bower have helped the Mariners get off to an undefeated start. Freshman Najeli Jimenez and sophomore Brianna Guerrero are powering a resurgence at Watsonville. And North Monterey County sophomores Maria Ramirez, Gina Huerta and Melanie Aquino have been goal-scoring machines for the undefeated Condors.

After going 7-2 as interim head coach, Page handed back the helm Monday morning to Marcopulos with the Seahawks (9-3) riding a six-game winning streak that includes Sunday’s 77-73 upset of the top ranked City College of San Francisco Rams in the San Joaquin Delta Tournament final.

Ruiz this season won the Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division championship, took second in the CCS Division I race and advanced to the California Interscholastic Federation state meet for the second straight season.

With 10 players back, including four starters, from last year’s regional quarterfinalist team, Aptos knows this could be the year the program does something it has not since the 1982-83 season: play for a California Interscholastic Federation Northern California championship.

Junior Elyanna Magdaleno scored two goals and dished an assist, and sophomore Brianna Guerrero and freshman Nayeli Jimenez each scored once and made an assist in Watsonville’s 5-0 win over host Carmel on Thursday.
