A star on the football team and a solid contributor to both the basketball and baseball squads as a junior, the 5-foot-8, 155-pound athlete will be forced into a bigger role for all three sports this incoming school year.

Ceiba College Prep freshman Nellie Rubio-Pintor edged Oakwood sophomore Kate Marcotullio by a tenth of a second to finish first in Pacific Coast Athletic League Santa Lucia Center Meet 3 at Toro Park in Salinas on Oct. 18.

Senior forward Logan Feldbrugge has provided a much-needed scoring punch to support senior point guard Max Pepperdine’s playmaking and scoring, and senior forwards Hunter Matys and Anthony Sanchez have also started to settle into their roles — something the team struggled with during its trying 2-4 stretch at the end of December.
