WATSONVILLE — Watsonville Police have identified the man shot by an officer Wednesday morning as Isaias Aguilar, 22, a resident of Red Bluff.

Aguilar, 22, reportedly fled his 9th Street residence after allegedly trying to stab a family member. The family told police that Aguilar was under the influence of drugs and hallucinating.

About 30 minutes later, police responded to a report that a man matching Aguilar’s description was throwing rocks at vehicles at the intersection of Main Street and Ohlone Parkway.

Aguilar, who was holding two knives, allegedly charged an officer when he arrived, forcing the officer to shoot him, police said.

He was flown to a trauma center, where he was listed in stable condition.
