A 61-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both of Hayward, died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 9 near Boulder Creek Saturday.
The California Highway Patrol said an 18-year-old female from San Jose was driving a white 2018 Tesla Model 3 north on Hwy. 9 south of State Route 35 at an undetermined speed around 4:45pm. Â
The Hayward couple were riding a blue 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Hwy 9, north of the Tesla, also at an undetermined speed.
For reasons still under investigation, both vehicles collided head-on. Both riders were ejected from the motorcycle and thrown to the pavement.Â
Both riders died at the scene. The driver of the Tesla was not injured. Both occupants of the Harley Davidson were wearing helmets, and the driver of the Tesla was wearing a seatbelt, the CHP said.
The cause of the motorcycle crash is under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were factors.
