SANTA CRUZ COUNTY—The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team arrested two gang members over the past week for weapons violations after parole checks at their residences.

Isaac Urquiza, 21, was arrested Thursday on the 100 block of Sudden Street in Watsonville for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and a parole violation. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, jail records showed.

Jose Reyes, 29, was arrested on the 1500 block of Bulb Avenue in Santa Cruz for being a felon in possession of ammunition and a parole violation. He was set to be released under an order signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to reduce jail population to help combat the spread of Covid-19, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ashley Keehn said.

Watsonville Police Special Investigations Unit, Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team and State Parole agents helped with the arrests.
