Stolen vehicle bursts into flame, causes wild land fire
                    Firefighters extinguished a half-acre blaze Wednesday afternoon caused when a stolen car burst into flames on Larkin Valley Road.

                    The walkout at Watsonville High School Wednesday began at 10 a.m., when a small group of students walked through campus, shouting “Walkout!”                
                
            Carjacking suspects identified
                    The trio accused of shooting at two people after an alleged carjacking have been identified as Jose Contreras Valencia, 19, and Julio Galindo, 21. A 17-year-old boy is also suspected.

            Atkinson Lane annexation approved
                    The Santa Cruz Local Agency Formation Commission approved Watsonville's annexation request Wednesday, extending the city's limits by 2.4 acres on Atkinson Lane.

                    The Watsonville Pilots Association pulled its appeal of Nordic Naturals' expansion hours before the Watsonville City Council was scheduled to consider it Tuesday evening.

            Taekwondo instructor arrested for third time
                    A Watsonville taekwondo instructor who was arrested in 2016 for sex crimes against a minor, and who was arrested again in January while he was out on bail for new crimes against a minor, was arrested for a third time on Thursday after police discovered video evidence of his sex crimes, Watsonville Police Sgt. Brian Ridgway announced Thursday.
