A 19-year-old Watsonville man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting an underage girl.
Christopher Medina Amezquita was arrested in Capitola with help from Capitola Police, the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.
He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail without bail on multiple felony charges, including rape, false imprisonment and kidnapping, jail records showed.
Police responded to the 700 block of Walker Street Nov. 7 after a report of a sexual assault, Watsonville Police spokeswoman Michelle Pulido said.
Officers learned that Medina Amezquita approached the 17-year-old victim and lured her into his car. Once inside, he drove to another location where he assaulted her, Pulido said.
The victim did not know the suspect, she said.
Detectives suspect there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact Watsonville Police Detective Marcos Rios at 831.768.3357.
