WATSONVILLE — A Watsonville woman reached a milestone on Friday, turning 103 years old.

Clara Fletcher, who was born in the hills above Soledad in 1914, has seen and experienced a lot during her life.

“It’s really easy to lose track of time,” she said with a smile.

Fletcher moved to Watsonville many years ago after she married, and she has been a resident of the town ever since. She now lives at the Watsonville Nursing Center on Auto Center Drive.

Staff at the center congratulated Fletcher and sent her best wishes. Michelle Foxworthy, a staff member who regularly takes care of Fletcher, noted the significance.

“It’s quite the feat, reaching this age,” she said. “We’re happy for her.”
