Watsonville High’s Daisy Cornejo was one of several impact players that helped the Wildcatz girls’ volleyball team earn a trip to the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs in 2023. 

The junior outside hitter and defensive specialist was all over the court this season. Cornejo finished with a team-best 203 kills and 95 aces, according to the Monterey Bay Preps website.

Cornejo was also second on the team with 197 digs, helping her case furthermore to earn All-Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division First Team honors. 

Fellow teammate Valeria Garcia, a senior, earned All-PCAL Second Team honors after she finished with a team-best 298 assists to go along with 141 digs and 42 aces for the ‘Catz, who finished third with an 8-4 record in Mission Division play.  

Garcia was also named to the Richard Chamberlin All-Sportsmanship Team.
