WATSONVILLE — A convenience store was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning.

According to Watsonville Police, around 1:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 7-Eleven on Freedom Boulevard for an armed robbery that had just occurred. Officers arrived and located an employee inside of the store. 

According to the employee, three suspects entered the store and selected multiple cases of beer. One of the suspects brandished a black revolver at the employee and demanded money from the cash register. 

The suspects left the store with the beer and an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. They were last seen running through the parking lot toward Crestview Drive. 

The employee was not injured and no shots were fired. 

Officers conducted a search for the suspects but they were not located. Officers obtained video surveillance of the incident from the store and the investigation is ongoing.
