In keeping with a long tradition, organizers at PV Arts are setting up for their annual Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, exhibition.
“Caminos de Recuerdo” (Paths of Remembrance) invites artists, participants, and visitors to reflect on the journeys that connect everyone to those who came before, PV Arts said.
This year’s exhibition honors the enduring presence of ancestors, loved ones, and cultural memory through art, education, storytelling, and communal remembrance, organizers said.
The show will feature numerous altars made by people of the Pajaro Valley, photographs, songs, recipes, rituals and ofrendas (offerings). “These pathways guide us toward a deeper understanding of who we are and where we come from,” organizers said. “They remind us that memory is not fixed in the past but continues to shape our lives in the present.”

On Oct. 27 and 28, Sergio Vicente Garcia Aguilar, a visiting artist from Mexico, will offer demonstrations of how he does sand art.
The show, which is curated by Nessa Ledesma, runs Oct. 27–Dec. 5. A community celebration, which is open to the public, is set for Nov. 1, from noon-3pm at 280 Main St. in downtown Watsonville.
