WATSONVILLE — Watsonville police and California Highway Patrol officers on Thursday were looking for a man who fled a traffic stop in the 500 block of Auto Center Drive at about 2:30 p.m.

The unidentified suspect disappeared in the area of Watsonville Post Acute Center at 525 Auto Center Drive.

Several officers from Watsonville Police Department and California Highway Patrol were looking for the man.

CHP officer Julieta Trenado said officers tried to pull over the Watsonville man for speeding and a registration issue on Auto Center Drive.

When the suspect stopped, he fled on foot and disappeared behind the care center, Trenado said.

Watsonville Police joined the CHP in creating a wide perimeter and then in a search of the nursing center. As of 3:30 p.m. the man had not been located, Trenado said.
