Crews from the Watsonville Public Works Department are starting up two large projects that will affect motor and foot traffic.

On Monday, the Water Service crew began to replace a water main in the southbound lanes of South Green Valley Road between Main Street and Harkins Slough Road. The southbound lanes will be closed between 7am-5pm.

Drivers will need to detour through Ohlone Parkway. Access to businesses and residences will be accommodated with the detour.

The work is expected to last two months.

The first phase of paving for the Freedom Boulevard Reconstruction Project is slated to begin June 19. Traffic on Freedom Boulevard between Crestview Drive and Sydney Avenue will be shifted to one side of the road while the other side is being reconstructed.

There are a total of five paving phases, with each phase taking about 10 days to complete.
