Recent storms have crippled the over-crossing to a stream on Casserly Road. County officials plan to shut down the heavily travelled road for repairs. The County of Santa Cruz Department of Public Works announced that replacement of the Casserly Road Bridge is scheduled to begin Thursday. Located on Casserly Road and Smith Road, the Casserly Road Bridge is a key connecting route for South County residents and businesses and residents. The road will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians and bicycles, between Thursday and Aug. 11. Detour signs will be posted in the area, and travelers are advised to plan ahead. Supervisor Greg Caput thanked residents for their patience and persistence. “The new bridge will enhance public safety for residents, students and businesses in the neighborhood. We need to make sure that the construction is expedited so it is completed as fast as it is possible,“ Caput said. The Department of Public Works asks the public to avoid this area during construction. For information, visit www.sccroadclosure.org.
