WATSONVILLE — Jimmy Dutra has taken an early lead in campaign fundraising for the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors District 4 seat, finance statements show.
The first round of campaign statement filing for the June 5 election deadlined Wednesday.
From July 1 to Dec. 31, Dutra reported raising $24,407.99, according to finance statements filed with the County Clerk’s office. Nancy Bilicich, also contending for the seat, reported $5,425 in contributions over the same time period, while Felipe Hernandez raised $3,966.
Incumbent Greg Caput filed a statement describing his recipient committee on Jan. 25, and had no contributions to report by the Wednesday deadline.
Leticia Mendoza filed her intention to run for the seat on Jan. 26, joining the crowded race that includes three current Watsonville City Council members.
Contributors to Dutra’s campaign include representatives from the agricultural industry and developers, including $400 each from farmer Georgeann Cowles Eiskamp and Sonny Tut of Elite Development.
Over the six-month period, Dutra’s campaign spent $3,421,10, which included $1,030.23 to Pajaro Valley Printing for campaign literature.
Among her contributions, Bilicich loaned $5,000 to her campaign. Her expenditures included $282.96 to Pajaro Valley Printing for campaign literature.
Hernandez received a contribution of $1,000 from Pajaro Valley Community Alliance. His only expenditure was $150 to Maria Orozco for treasurer fees.
Santa Cruz County’s Fourth District ranges from Hazel Dell and Mount Madonna roads to the north; the Pajaro River to the south; Green Valley Road and Airport Boulevard to the west; and the Santa Cruz County border line in Mount Madonna and Aromas to the east.
According to the county Elections Department, the district has 18,789 active voters.
