Candelaria Gonzalez Portillo passed away peacefully at Dominican Hospital surrounded by her family on December 14, 2018. She was 73.
Candelaria was born to Doroteo Portillo and Delfina Gonzalez in El Salvador on February 2, 1945. Ms. Portillo had been a resident of this community for 40 years. Before retiring she worked as an assistant in a laundromat. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed cooking delicious meals for them. She was a happy person with a great sense of humor. Ms. Portillo like to tend to her flower garden, and her many colorful birds; she also liked to travel. She was a generous natured person, always helping family or friends in need. Ms. Portillo was a woman of faith, very devoted to her religion. She will truly be missed.
Candelaria is survived by her husband, Ignacio Ortez; three sons, Oscar Antonio Gonzalez, Mario Ismael Ortez, and Jose Ignacio Ortez; one daughter, Maricela Nicolina Gonzalez; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The viewing and a funeral service was held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Thursday, December 20, with the burial on Friday, December 21 at Valley Public Cemetery.

Candelaria hija de Doroteo Portillo y Delfina Gonzalez nacio en El Salvador el 2 de febrero 1945. Candelaria ha sido residente de esta comunidad por 40 años. Antes de retirarse Candelaria trabajo de Asistente de Lavanderia. Ella era una esposa amorosa que le gustaba pasar su tiempo atendiendo a sus plantar y sus pajaritos. Ella tenia un gran sentido del humor. Le gustaba viajar y pasar tiempo con su familia. Ella era muy generosa y siempre tenia buenos consejos que compartir. Candelaria era una mujer de mucha fe, y dedicada a su religion.
Candelaria es sobrevivida por su esposo Ignacio Ortez; tres hijos, Oscar Antonio Gonzalez, Mario Ismael Ortez y Jose Ignacio Ortez; una hija, Maricela Nicolina Gonzalez; ocho nietos y tres bisnietos.
La velacion y servicios funebres se llevaran acabo en Mehl’s Colonial Chapel el jueves 20 de diciembre y el entierro el viernes 21 en el cementerio Valley Public en Watsonville, CA.
