Socorro Medina died peacefully surrounded by her family in Moss Landing on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019. She was 85.

She was born in Coalcoman, Michoacan on April 13, 1933. She was a kind-hearted lady that was devoted to her family. She enjoyed taking her daily walks and reading religious books. Spending quality time with her family was a top priority in her life as she did so as much as possible. She was a resident of Watsonville.

She is survived by her son, Luis Gerardo Medina (Leonor Martinez); her daughters, Rosemary (Martin) Juarez, Socorro (Alejandro) Maduena, Delia Medina and Dolores (Manuel) Mercado; and Cornelia (Rodolfo) Murillo whom she loved as her own daughter. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A visitation service will be held at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. in Watsonville, on Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 5-9 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated Jan. 16 at Holy Eucharist Catholic Church, 527 Corralitos Road in Watsonville, at 11:30 a.m. with the burial to follow directly after at Valley Public Cemetery, 2445 East Lake Ave. in Watsonville.
