SANTA CRUZ — An Aptos woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 17 Thursday.
California Highway Patrol officer Trista Drake said the victim, a 64-year-old woman, was traveling north in the slow lane at 3:50 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 2004 BMW, driven by a 46-year-old Union City man in the fast lane, and the Honda collided. The Honda ran off the road, through a perimeter fence and across El Rancho Road where it rammed into a tree.
The driver of the BMW was not injured.
The Honda driver was taken to Dominican Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The incident is still under investigation.
No names have been released in the incident.
