Charles Erath (Chaz) died at home on Saturday, July 1, 2017 with his wife, Rhoda, at his side. He was 88.

Mr. Erath was born in New York on Sept. 19, 1928. He was a graduate of Fordham University in the Bronx, New York and pursued his career as a photographer beginning in 1950.   During this career he photographed many celebrities for ASMP-NYC and in Miami, Fla.  Sir Charles Erath was knighted by a Princess of Romania.

Chaz and Rhoda were married on August 6, 1977. He met Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and many others.  His photography involved locations in New York City, Miami and Palm Beach, Florida, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Paris, Italy and many other locations. He photographed Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Dizzie Gillespie, Elton John, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Debbie Reynolds, Dionne Warwick and more. He was also a photographer at the famous Woodstock Concert.

He is survived by his wife, Rhoda; his brother, Kevin Sr.; two nephews, Kevin Jr. and Michael Erath; sister-in-law, Linda BloomBecker; and nieces, Mia and Genna.

In lieu of flowers, consider donating to a trust fund for Rhoda Bloom Erath for the funeral expenses. There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
