May 4, 1925 – April 29, 2026

Georgie Blair passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.

Georgie was born May 4, 1925 in San Mateo, California. She was the second child of George W. Pein and Maude Houseman Pein. Georgie spent her early childhood in San Mateo and attended San Mateo High School and the College of San Mateo.

She met the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Blair, in her junior year at San Mateo High School. She was on the hockey team and Chuck was always fond of telling the story that he “had his eye on her” as she ran around in her hockey bloomers! Chuck joined the Navy after graduation, and was gone for four years in WWII, but returned to marry his sweetheart, Georgie, in 1947. Their first child was born in 1949 in Berkeley, where Chuck and Georgie lived while he was completing his Civil Engineering degree at the University of California.

Georgie and Chuck were married for almost 60 years and raised six beautiful children. Caring for her six children and planning family gatherings and parties for their friends and neighbors was the joy of Georgie’s life! She loved to entertain, and was happiest when her children, grandchildren, and friends came over to enjoy their beautiful gardens and dinner parties.

Georgie worked hard to pass on her life’s values of compassion, generosity, integrity, and hard work to her children. In spite of being the busy mother of six children, Georgie gave freely of any extra time she had to community service. She was President of the Palo Alto Crippled Children’s Society, a member of the Peninsula Volunteers, a Girl Scout Leader, and a Cub Scout Leader. Georgie also worked as a volunteer for many years at El Camino Hospital and volunteered at Filoli Gardens.

Georgie and Chuck had a busy life together, designing, building, and landscaping their beautiful home in Los Altos Hills, hosting all the big family holiday parties, and traveling to Paris, London, Rome, the Caribbean, and Hawaii many times. Later in life she earned her Real Estate License and practiced for 15 years winning sales awards as an agent for Coldwell Banker.

With her great charisma and wit, Georgie made friends wherever she went. She possessed an infectious smile, and could never resist talking to babies in a crowd. She loved entertaining family and friends, and was still throwing parties at Bridgepoint in Los Altos shortly before her death.

She is survived by her children: Susan Walsh (Brian) of San Jose, Kathy Arola (Rockne) of Watsonville, Patrick Blair (Jeanine Sicard) of Eureka, Scott Blair of June Lake, and Daniel Blair (Shelli) of Costa Mesa; her grandchildren Blair Walsh Kavanaugh, Erin Walsh, Amy Doan, Wes Arola, Sam Duame, Rachel Blair, Dane Blair, Drew Ross; her great grandchildren Teagan, Tenley, Owen, Cooper, Remy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Blair, her brother Robert Pein, her sister Marilyn Pein (Schwartz), and her son Michael Blair (Dorothea Duame), and leaves behind her dedicated caregivers Kimberly Castellanos and Cristobalina Bravo.

May Georgie’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her and continue to inspire those who cherish the beauty she created during her long and meaningful life.

Following her wishes, a small private family service to celebrate her life was held at Alta Mesa Memorial Park. Donations in her memory may be made to: Via Rehabilitation Services (formerly Crippled Children’s Society) 2851 Park Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95050-6097 (408) 243-7861
