The Pajaro Valley High Grizzlies improved to 4-0 on the season with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-15 sweep over Trinity Christian in non-league action on Friday night.

Jaqui Lopez had 13 assists and nine aces, Natalia Arroyo added five aces and Julie Che tallied nine kills.

P.V. is off until Friday, when it will host Anzar at 6:30 p.m.

• MVC 3, Santa Cruz 0 – The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs swept the Santa Cruz High Cardinals 25-19, 25-20, 25-16 on Friday night in non-league action in Watsonville.

It was a rebound win for the Mustangs (3-1), who lost a tight match between defending Central Coast Section champions on Thursday night against Burlingame High.

Cassidy Schurman had 11 kills, Mattea Romo added eight kills and 11 digs and Allie Tillery chimed in with five kills and two blocks in the 25-15, 25-13, 12-25, 25-21 loss to the CCS Division III champs.

M.V.C. continues its preseason on Tuesday at home against Santa Catalina School at 6:30 p.m.

MEN’S JC SOCCER

• Cabrillo 3, Folsom Lake 1 – Steve Lopez, Walmer Martinez and Omar Ismail each scored in Cabrillo College’s 3-1 non-conference win over Folsom Lake College on Friday at Carl Conelly Stadium in Aptos.

Ricardo Olvera and Martinez made assists, while Edi Magdaleno had four saves for the Seahawks (2-0), who host Taft College on Friday at 7 p.m.

GIRL’S CROSS COUNTRY

• Watsonville’s Salazar, Ruiz star – Watsonville High’s Daniela Salazar and Layla Ruiz took second and third, respectively, in their race at Saturday’s San Benito High Dry River Run in Hollister.

Salazar finished runner-up in the senior race with a time of 13 minutes, 27.38 seconds, while Ruiz was third in the freshman race at 12:51.19.

North Monterey County High’s Faith Mora was fourth (13:10.8) in the junior race, Sarah Delgado took sixth (14:28.07) in the senior race and Crystal Baeza was ninth (14:14.74) in the freshman race.

BOY’S CROSS COUNTRY

• N.M.C.’s Medina finishes in top 10 – North Monterey County High’s Edgar Medina took eighth in the senior race of the San Benito High Dry River Run in Hollister on Saturday.
Medina completed the two-mile race in 11 minutes, 13.28 seconds.

N.M.C.’s Jiovanni Garcia took eighth (11:14.67) in the junior race.

Jesus Alvarez was Watsonville High’s top finisher, taking 14th (11:34) in the junior race.
