WATSONVILLE — A man was injured Tuesday morning at what emergency dispatchers described as a stabbing at a home on the 100 block of Dizon Court.

Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies were quick to respond just after 10 a.m., establishing a crime scene and blocking off Dizon Court with yellow crime tape.

Officials locked down nearby Calabasas Elementary School for about an hour, as they were unsure of the suspect’s location.

While emergency officials from American Medical Response treated the victim, deputies went door-to-door in the neighborhood to talk to possible witnesses and check for security camera footage.

Dizon Court is located on the north edge of Watsonville, surrounded by agriculture fields. Several neighbors on nearby Bradford Street came out to watch the scene unfold.

About eight sheriff deputies joined detectives at the scene to collect evidence. As of 2:15 p.m. no suspect info had been released.

The victim was rushed to Watsonville Community Hospital and then transported in stable condition by CALSTAR air ambulance to an out-of-county trauma center.

Watsonville Fire also responded to help treat the victim.

The incident is still under investigation.
