Mary Rose Tana

WATSONVILLE — Mary Rose Lachica Tana died peacefully in her Watsonville home on Thursday, June 1, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was 48.

Mrs. Tana was born in Linabuan Norte, Aklan, Philippines, on March 6, 1969 to Sulfredo and Agnes Lachica; the younger sister to Frances and Fred Lachica. As a child, she always dreamt of becoming a nurse as she carried a bag of medicine around the family farm, and enjoyed caring for others. Mrs. Tana then graduated with her nursing degree from Saint Gabriel College in 1989.

In 1991, Mrs. Tana married her husband of 26 years, Nelson Tana and moved to Watsonville. The couple have two daughters, Venice and Marynelle. She was a dedicated nurse at Watsonville Community Hospital, and was recognized with the Patient Choice Award in 2007. She was an active member of the Filipino Community of Watsonville, and a faithful devotee of the Catholic Church. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and loving empathy for those around her.

Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Sunday, June 11 from 5–9 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Church on Monday, June 12 at 10 a.m.
