The third annual Nerdville Watsonville will take place June 25. The event is described as a “fun and family friendly day of anime, cosplay, collectables and more,” by the hosts, Friends of Watsonville Parks and Community Services Department.

“This year, we honor the amazing anime community in Watsonville, one filled with so many thoughtful, creative and passionate individuals,” organizers said. “We will be hosting vendors and artists, both local and from afar, making available homemade anime-related crafts and collectables for all.”

Previous Nerdville events drew more than 800 comics fans, collectors and geeks that celebrated superheroes and shared their love for a genre that has captivated millions around the world since the Phantom comic strip debuted in 1936.

Among the goods for sale will be the 2023 Nerdville sweatshirt and other related goods for newborns to adults created by Watsonville artist Paul De Worken, the designated artist for the show.

The seven-hour event is free to all Pajaro Valley Unified School District students (with proof of current 2022-2023 student ID card) and for anyone under the age of 5.

The early bird special for tickets ends on Sunday at 11:30pm. After that tickets will be $20 for adults and $10 for non-PVUSD students/youth (6-17) at the door.

Nerdville Watsonville 2023 runs June 25 from 10am to 5pm at the Watsonville High School gym on Lincoln Street.
