Stolen plane reportedly plunged into sea

Watsonville Police announced Thursday that the man who allegedly stole a small airplane out of Watsonville Municipal Airport (WMA) on June 26 appears to have flown the Cessna 172 SP Skyhawk into the sea.

City’s Vision Zero plan takes shape

The plan, approved by the council in January 2018 and in the works since then, looks to boost Watsonville’s ongoing fight to make its streets safer for pedestrians in a multitude of ways. Along with education and enforcement, the plan also hopes to improve the safety of the city’s streets by prioritizing the development of safe roadways in areas identified most “at-risk.”

City Council OKs City Plaza plans

City staff will now finalize the plan and prepare an application that will be submitted to state officials in hopes of qualifying for Prop 68 funds. The deadline for the first round of funding from the voter-approved $4.1 billion bond measure, according to Watsonville Director of Parks and Community Services Nick Calubaquib, is Aug. 3.
