From the editor's desk: Step forward and report crimes
I am relieved to say that we finally got through a Monday without reports of child abuse popping up from somewhere in Santa Cruz County.

Movie Review: 'Justice League’ brings up feelings of what could have been
“Justice League” is a rushed, cut-together mess through its first two acts that has no heart and continuously thuds in the comedy department so badly that I was actually cringing.

Guest View: Working for a common good

It was 1995 the last time the Pajaro River flooded this badly. Local clergy responded, organizing charitable efforts to help those affected. But when we showed up to meetings where key decisions would be made, we were dismissed and sent back to our places...

Movie Review: Franco fantastic in shedding light on failure in 'The Disaster Artist'
James Franco made a movie about possibly the worst movie ever made, and somehow it might be his best movie to date. I don’t know how he did it but I do know that “The Disaster Artist” is a fantastic film about friendship that will make you care and laugh at the same time.

No matter how you feel about immigration policy, we can all agree that we want all children to be and feel safe. As a team of community leaders and activists, we are working to make sure all children have a secure place to live should something happen to their parents.

Grandpa wants to eat an apple.
This is a simple act. Yet, one in five people over the age of 65 living in the U.S. have lost all their teeth according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). To make matters worse, Medicare—the...
