A Watsonville firefighter secures the scene of a solo vehicle crash Friday. A Watsonville man was injured after crashing his Honda Accord into a utility pole on East Beach Street Friday afternoon. The man’s vehicle first hit a parked Chevy Silverado at about 1:32 p.m. before continuing another hundred feet, side-swiping a Lincoln Towncar and then careening across both lanes of traffic and up onto the pedestrian sidewalk, and then smashing into garbage cans and colliding with the pole. Watsonville Fire responded to the scene, and the driver was eventually taken by ambulance to Watsonville Community Hospital. Traffic in both directions on East Beach Street was shut down for about 45 minutes.
