Rafael Antonio Chacon Chavarria died peacefully with his loving family at his side on Aug. 27 after a brief illness. He was 46.

He was born Aug. 30, 1972 in El Salvador, but immigrated to America and resided in Watsonville. Although he did not have children, he loved his nephews and nieces as his own.

He had a passion for music. He loved listening to ‘80s rock like Def Leppard, The Cure, Michael Jackson, Prince and more. He loved dancing, roller skating and loved photography, taking pictures of his sisters and family. He was also an animal lover and enjoyed taking care of his dogs.

He was survived by his parents Maria Consuelo Chacon and Rafael Chavarria and his four siblings, Marilyn Carbonell, Damaris Umagat, David Chacon and Tarquino Chacon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sept. 3 from 5-7 p.m. and evening services will be held from 7-9 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.

Church services will be held on Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A burial will follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
