The Safe Schools Project of Santa Cruz County is hosting its annual Rainbow Conference on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Watsonville High School.
The event is billed as a day of “celebration, community and learning” for LGBTQ youth of all ages and the people who support them.
It is hosted by the Safe Schools Project, which is a program of the Queer Youth Task Force of Santa Cruz County (QYTF).
The Rainbow Conference also provides a place of support in a time when LGBTQ rights are increasingly under attack
“The Safe Schools Project and Queer Youth Task Force understand that bringing queer, trans, and allied students and their families together is more important than ever, said Stuart Rosenstein, says Stuart Rosenstein, who has chaired the QYTF since 2000 “For decades, young LGBTQ+ people had to live in the shadows and in fear. In recent years, young people were experiencing openness and celebration, but in 2025 that is under attack. This event offers an opportunity for unity, solidarity, and community building.”
The event is at Watsonville High School at 250 E Beach St. in Watsonville from 9:30am–2pm. It includes activities for elementary, middle and high school students, as well as an “understanding gender” conference for parents, guardians and educators.
