PNG seeks new volunteers
Partners for New Generations, a non-profit group that has provided mentors and tutors to local students for 16 years, has scheduled a volunteer information night and open house 6-7 p.m. today and April 24 at Mountain View Los Altos Union High School District offices, 1299 Bryant Ave., adjacent to Mountain View High School.
Teens and their volunteer adult mentors do everything from bowling to hiking, cooking and going to movies. Primarily they talk – and listen – to one another. The relationships are designed to help struggling students build self-esteem and find positive direction in their lives.
Through the information nights, PNG hopes to attract new volunteers to serve as tutors for elementary and middle-school students and mentors at the high-school level.
To RSVP, call Carole Dorshkind at 766-2162.
