Women's JC Volleyball: Seahawks sooth sting of playoff ousting with accolades
After sweeping conference play for the 12th consecutive season, six Cabrillo College Seahawks earned end of year awards from the coaches of the Coast Conference North division.
JC Roundup, 12/28: Roadrunners shut down star guard Heleyna Hill, Seahawks
Hill, a sophomore transfer from San Jose State and a Santa Cruz native, leads the state in points (24.9) and assists (4.7) per game, but managed just eight points and two assists as a result of running up against a game plan designed exclusively to stop her.
Weekly Roundup, 12/28: Aptos girls’ soccer heads into near year unbeaten
The Aptos Mariners will roll into the new year with an unscathed 6-0-2 record following an 8-0 rout of Pacific Collegiate School on Dec. 20.
Pat Lovell Holiday Wrestling Classic, 2018: Aptos' Zacarias, Watsonville's Meyers stun seeded opponents in third place finishes
Zacarias pinned No. 2 seed Nick Trave of Petaluma to take third at 106 pounds, while Meyers pinned No. 4 seed Isaiah Ontiveros of Pitman in the third-place match at 152 pounds.
All-Pajaronian Football Team, 2018: Mariners’ Marcos Reyes repeats as Player of the Year
Reyes this fall pieced together arguably the most impressive football season in the program’s history, breaking at least 14 records and earning league M.V.P. honors while leading Aptos to its fourth Central Coast Section championship of the decade and first-ever regional bowl game berth.

Men's JC basketball: Free throw woes sink Seahawks in preseason loss
After going undefeated in the month of December, the Cabrillo College men’s basketball team lost what some were calling “the most physical game played this year in the CCCAA” to the visiting Allan Hancock College Bulldogs, 81-77, Saturday night in the Adobe Palace.
Boys' basketball roundup, 1/11: Mariners’ offense starting to click
Senior forward Logan Feldbrugge has provided a much-needed scoring punch to support senior point guard Max Pepperdine’s playmaking and scoring, and senior forwards Hunter Matys and Anthony Sanchez have also started to settle into their roles — something the team struggled with during its trying 2-4 stretch at the end of December.
