Tran was the overall medalist at Monday’s MBL Golf Championships at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey. He fired a two-over par 73 through the unusually windy and cloudy conditions in the Monterey hills.

The Mariners are not out of it yet but they are definitely in a hole for the rest of the league season after the 25-20, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19 loss to the loaded Knights. The No. 11-seeded Seahawks will play No. 3 Ohlone College this weekend in a best-of-three Super Regional playoff series. Game 1 is set for Friday at 2 p.m., Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. and Game 3, if needed, will be played on Sunday at 1 p.
