Girl's SCCAL Volleyball: Powerful Soquel hands Aptos first regular season league loss in 3 years

The Mariners are not out of it yet but they are definitely in a hole for the rest of the league season after the 25-20, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19 loss to the loaded Knights. The loss not only dropped the four-time defending SCCAL champs into second place in the league standings but also dashed an impressive 30-match win streak against league opponents in the regular season, which dated back to 2015.

CCS Sports: Section officially moves weekend’s action south

Because of poor air quality in the Bay Area stemming from the ongoing Camp Fire just east of Chico, all of Friday’s football games will take place on Saturday at five sites in the southern portion of the CCS. The CCS Cross Country Championships, too, were pushed back a day and moved to a different location. The section’s top runners will meet at Toro Park in Salinas on Sunday at 10 a.m.
