Local Roundup, 5/9: Cabrillo baseball advances to Super Regional
The No. 11-seeded Seahawks will play No. 3 Ohlone College this weekend in a best-of-three Super Regional playoff series. Game 1 is set for Friday at 2 p.m., Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. and Game 3, if needed, will be played on Sunday at 1 p.
CCS Sports: Section officially moves weekend’s action south
Because of poor air quality in the Bay Area stemming from the ongoing Camp Fire just east of Chico, all of Friday’s football games will take place on Saturday at five sites in the southern portion of the CCS. The CCS Cross Country Championships, too, were pushed back a day and moved to a different location. The section’s top runners will meet at Toro Park in Salinas on Sunday at 10 a.m.

CCS Baseball: St. Francis advances to semifinals with extra-innings win
The No. 7-seeded Sharks edged the No. 2-seeded Soquel High Knights, 4-3, in nine innings on Saturday at Harbor High to advance to the CCS Division II semifinals at Municipal Stadium in San Jose.
CCS Track & Field Semifinals: Ruiz, Salazar, Zlatunich lead locals into championships
Heart, resolve and courage, Ruiz showcased all of the above while punching her ticket to next week’s CCS Championships back at Gilroy High. She took fourth in her star-studded heat, which featured a trio of highly-decorated seniors: Rebecca Hasser, Kaylah Grant and Mari Friedman.
