CCS Sports: Section officially moves weekend’s action south
Because of poor air quality in the Bay Area stemming from the ongoing Camp Fire just east of Chico, all of Friday’s football games will take place on Saturday at five sites in the southern portion of the CCS. The CCS Cross Country Championships, too, were pushed back a day and moved to a different location. The section’s top runners will meet at Toro Park in Salinas on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Senior Kourosh Safari repeated as the SCCAL singles champ with a grueling 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win over Santa Cruz High’s Jack Tierney, while the Mariners’ duo of Carter Bond and Jake Kluger breezed through Soquel High’s pair of Lincoln Cooley and Casey Valcarcel, 6-1, 6-3, for the doubles title at the Seascape Sports Club.
JC Football: Cabrillo secures first win of Arbet era
Cabrillo College routed San Jose City College, 48-26, on Saturday night in non-conference play at Carl Conelly Stadium in Aptos to hand first-year head coach Darren Arbet his first win as the leader of the Seahawks.
