An 18-year-old man was arrested late Tuesday after Watsonville Police caught him street racing.

Michelle Pulido, spokeswoman for WPD, said a night shift officer was patrolling on the 500 block on Main Street when he spotted two cars racing. He was able to catch up to one of the cars and pull the driver over.

Officers then reportedly found a large amount of marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, cash and other cannabis-related items during a vehicle search.

The driver, Diego Garcia Sandoval, was arrested for exhibition of speed and possession of drugs for sale. He is facing drug charges and a 30-day vehicle impound.
