The city of Watsonville is inviting the community to a workshop focused on planning for future passenger rail service and trail improvements in and around the Watsonville area.
The Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) is hosting the workshop as part of its ongoing Zero Emission Passenger Rail and Trail (ZEPRT) project efforts.
The workshop will take place on Monday, May 12, from 6–7:30pm at the Civic Plaza Community Room (275 Main Street, 4th Floor, Watsonville). The evening will begin with a brief presentation at 6:15pm, followed by an open house where attendees can view updated alignment maps and exhibits, participate in interactive sessions and provide input to help shape the project. Spanish interpretation will be available.
City staff will be present to answer any questions related to planning of a future downtown train station, as part of the City’s General Plan 2050 Update.
Additionally, earlier in the day on May 12 from 2–2:30pm, a meeting will be held for Walker Street businesses and residents to discuss proposed rail and trail alignments and downtown station location options.
