Christian Quintero scored 18 points, Bryan Gallardo added 16 and Pajaro Valley beat Christopher in preseason boys basketball action on Wednesday night.

Gallardo swished 5-of-6 from downtown for Pajaro Valley (4-4), which hosts Aptos tonight at 7 p.m.

Watsonville 57, Gilroy 50 – Fabian Rodriguez scored 15 points and Lucas Ruiz chipped in 14 points in the Wildcatz’s preseason win on Wednesday night.

Watsonville (9-3) travels to Harbor tonight at 7 p.m.

The win was the team’s seventh in its last eight games. The ‘Catz also scored wins over Pacific Point Christian, Pacific Collegiate, Oakwood and Marina to win the Gold division of their own tournament.

Daniel Knight scored 15 points and Johnny Silapan added 13 in an 58-54 overtime win over Marina in the division’s final.

Scotts Valley 54, St. Francis 47  – St. Francis lost in Black division of the Watsonville High tournament on Dec. 15.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MVC 43, Homestead 36 – Madison Hill (12 points) and Aleah Rafat (10) scored in double figures to lead the Mustangs to a preseason win on Wednesday night.

Rafat also had five rebounds and six steals. Paloma Ramirez added eight points and four boards.

M.V.C. (8-2) returns to action in its own tournament, the Don and Martha Price Christmas Classic, on Dec. 27.

Stevenson 56, Watsonville 50  – Ruby Galvan scored a game-high 17 points in Watsonville’s preseason loss on Tuesday night.

Rylee Gomez (10) and Alexandra Swindle (11) also scored in double figures for the ‘Catz (4-5), who return to action at the Don and Martha Price Classic on Dec. 27.

Galvan also led the way in Watsonville’s 46-44 loss to Milpitas on Dec. 15, recording a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Gomez has 13 points in the loss.

Mitty 89, Aptos 31 – Natalia Ackerman had 14 points and seven rebounds for the Mariners in their loss to the top team in the country on Dec. 15.

Aptos (6-2) hosts Presentation tonight at 7 p.m.

GIRLS SOCCER

Aptos 3, Salinas 0 – Olivia Meier and Jazmin Castaneda each scored a goal and dished an assist in the Mariners’ preseason victory on Tuesday night.

Bella McDaniel also scored a goal for Aptos off an assist from Gisselle Vasquez.

MVC 2, Harbor 2 – Jana Komposch scored both of the Mustangs’ goals in their preseason tie against Harbor on Tuesday night.

Hailey Tripp and Alison Zulaica provided assists for M.V.C., which cruised to a 5-0 Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division win over Pacific Grove on Dec. 14.

Kailey Morrell scored two goals in the win over P.G., while Shayna Lebovitz, Caroline Sullivan and Komposch also scored.
