PIECE OF HISTORY The Pigeon Point Lighthouse stands on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean between Davenport and Pescadero. Built in 1871, the 115-foot lighthouse is one of tallest in America. While non-operational and closed since 2001, California State Parks has been spearheading an effort to restore the lighthouse and surrounding buildings to their former glory. —photo by Johanna Miller
