A road rage incident ended with one man being arrested after he struck a bicyclist with his car.

Patrol Officers responded to the area of East Lake Avenue and Brennan Street On July 9 after receiving reports that a person riding a bicycle had been hit by a maroon Honda Accord. The driver had left the scene before officers arrived. The bicyclist suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Using Flock Safety cameras, witness statements and other evidence, officers identified the car involved. The driver, 25-year-old Luis Valenzuela, admitted that he struck the bicyclist during the road rage incident and turned himself in.

Valenzuela was arrested and taken to the Santa Cruz County Jail facing charges for assault with a deadly weapon.

He was not in custody on July 14, jail records showed.
