The season will continue for the Mount Madonna School girls’ volleyball team after it qualified for a spot in the upcoming Central Coast Section playoffs. 

The Hawks along with four other Santa Cruz County teams advanced to postseason play, which kicks off with first-round action Saturday. 

Mount Madonna (7-13) will begin its quest for a championship in the Division V bracket as the No. 4 seed. They host No. 5 University Prep (14-8) on Tuesday at 7pm. 

Castilleja (24-4) is the No. 1 seed in D-V, Summit Shasta (25-3) is No. 2, and Notre Dame-Salinas (12-2), the Pacific Coast Athletic League Mission Division champion, is No. 3.

Soquel High (17-3), the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League’s regular-season and tournament champion, earned the No. 1 seed in D-IV.

Scotts Valley High (12-14), the SCCAL’s fourth-place finisher, is the lone local team scheduled to play in the opening round. The No. 8 seed Falcons play at No. 9 Gonzales (16-6), the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Santa Lucia Division champion, in D-IV action Saturday at 11am. 

The winner plays the Knights in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at Soquel at 7pm.

Harbor High (17-11) earned the No. 4 seed and it will host No. 5 Pacific Grove (14-1) in the D-IV quarterfinals Saturday at 7pm. The Breakers won the PCAL-Cypress Division title.

SCCAL runner-up Santa Cruz (20-5) is the No. 2 seed in the D-III bracket. The Cardinals host Saturday’s winner between No. 7 Del Mar (21-12) and No. 10 Greenfield (17-4), the PCAL Arroyo Division champion, on Tuesday at 7pm.

Burlingame (21-6) is the No. 1 seed in D-III, Sacred Heart Cathedral (18-14) is No. 3, and Half Moon Bay (23-5) is No. 4.
