Nearly 38% of public high school students in Santa Clara County are eligible for CalKIDS scholarships worth up to $1,500, with more than $51 million available to help students pay for higher education and career training programs.

The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS), administered by the California State Treasurer’s Office, helps expand access to postsecondary education and career training by helping families cover qualified educational expenses. Awards can be used at accredited colleges, universities, community colleges, trade schools and vocational programs.

CalKIDS is also partnering with the California Student Aid Commission to increase outreach. Through the WebGrants 4 Students portal, school counselors can identify qualifying students in grades 9-12 and connect them with available scholarships.

Students, parents and guardians must claim a CalKIDS Scholarship Account before awards can be used. Eligibility can be checked in minutes using a student’s Statewide Student Identifier, or SSID, available through school records or counselors.

The CalKIDS team will host a live online webinar from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 27 with information about the program. RSVP is required.

To determine eligibility, RSVP for the webinar or claim a scholarship account, seeCalKIDS.org.
