Supervisor Friend hosting tele-town hall to discuss farmworker protections

Santa Cruz County Supervisor Zach Friend tonight will host a tele-town hall from 6-7pm with guest Tom AmRhein to talk about the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

AmRhein, the former president of the Farm Bureau and the current chair of the organization’s Covid-19 Task Force, is expected to give a presentation about the precautionary measures the county and growers are using to keep employees safe and informed, and how they are keeping the food supply safe for the public.

To participate, call 454-2222 and enter meeting ID 145384#.

Most of the time during the call is devoted to questions from the public.

The tele-town hall is a weekly meeting organized by Friend, who oversees Aptos, Corralitos, parts of Watsonville and other large portions of South Santa Cruz County as Second District Supervisor. Previous guests include Sheriff Jim Hart, County Administrative Officer Carlos Palacios and the heads of Palo Alto Medical Foundation and Watsonville Community Hospital.
