Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and GM Energy are offering a Smart Charge Bundle designed to help eligible customers reduce the cost of charging electric vehicles at home.

Customers who purchase or lease an eligible new Chevrolet, Cadillac or GMC electric vehicle at a participating dealership can receive a GM Energy PowerShift or GM PowerUp 2 charger at no additional hardware cost, a value of up to $1,999. Participants can also receive a $15 monthly PG&E bill credit through the utility’s EV Charge Manager program and potentially save up to $50 per month by charging during lower-cost hours. Actual savings vary based on electricity rates, usage and charging habits.

To qualify, customers must be PG&E residential electric customers living in a single-family or detached home, have permission to install a charger and meet the program’s enrollment requirements. Installation costs are separate. GM’s preferred installer, Electrum, offers standard installation for $1,499, excluding sales tax, with additional charges possible for more complex installations.

Customers must enroll through a participating dealership, have an eligible GM vehicle and maintain an active OnStar service plan. Those already enrolled in certain PG&E or other managed-charging programs are not eligible.
