A 28-year-old Salinas man died late Monday night when he was struck by a car while walking on Highway 1 north of the city at this Vista Point freeway entrance.

Sheriff’s office seeking man who grabbed girl
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to be on the lookout after a man tried to grab a 13-year-old girl as she walked on the 7000 block of Highway 9 Monday afternoon.

Since the housing market rebounded in 2013, median home prices and rents have risen exponentially at the state and local levels, outpacing wage increases and housing production by a wide margin.
